Sparkling mineral waters, for example, have bubbles that are smaller and finer and the carbonation is naturally occurring. On the other hand, club soda will have bicarbonate salt added to give it finer bubbles, along with a bit of a mineral-y taste. Seltzer water is just pure water thats been pumped full of bubbles. This is why seltzer is often flavored otherwise, it would taste kind of bland.

The keto diet is a low carbohydrate, high fat and protein plan that forces the body into Ketosis, a metabolic process where the body does not have enough glucose to exert energy and must resort to burning fat . When you consume carbs your body turns those resources into glucose , which it uses for energy. As we over-consume carbohydrates in our diets, extra calories are stored rather than released through exercise. Is A Multivitamin Ok

You might wonder if it makes more sense to cover all your bases at once with a multivitamin supplement that offers a wide range of micronutrients. While this seems like a good idea, the truth is that taking a multivitamin means ingesting synthetic nutrients as well as getting amounts of them that dont mimic what youd get in whole foods. This is a problem because:

  • Taking certain vitamins in the wrong form can be ineffective.
  • Taking vitamins without the right amount of other vitamins can be ineffective or dangerous.
  • Some multivitamins contain additives or allergens like gluten or shellfish due to the broad scope of ingredients.

If the perfect keto multivitamin existed, this might not be an issue, but the bottom line is that your best bet is eating whole foods when it comes to nutrition.

  • Regular Soda 93 calories, 26 grams of total carbs, 26 grams of net carbs in every cup of Coca-Cola.

Popular Drinks That Should Be Consumed In Moderation On The Ketogenic Diet

The following list of drinks are on the fine line between keto-friendly and avoid entirely:

  • Coconut water 45 calories, 11 grams of total carbs, and 11 grams of net carbs per cup
  • Milk 148 calories, 12 grams of total carbs, and 12 grams of net carbs per cup of whole milk
  • Kombucha 30 calories, 7 grams of total carbs, and 7 grams of net carbs per cup of GTs Organic Raw Kombucha
  • Vegetable Juice 49 calories, 10 grams of carbs, and 8 grams of net carbs per cup of V8 100% Vegetable Juice

Each one of these drinks is beneficial to our health in various ways, but their net carb content requires you to maintain a watchful eye on how much you are consuming. In most cases, there is a better alternative that is more keto friendly. Consuming 1/3 of your daily carbs in 1 serving is not the best choice when it comes to your diet. Its best to save those carbs for leafy green vegetables.

For this reason, we recommend shying away from these types of beverages where possible. Although these beverages have some health benefits, it is not necessary to consume them while you are on the ketogenic diet.

Note: Its virtually impossible to cover all of the drinks that are moderately allowed on keto. Try to be careful and read nutrition labels. If it has sugar, you generally want to avoid it. If it doesnt have sugar, check the nutrition information. Generally, if a drink has more than 8g of carbs per serving, you should consider avoiding it.
