NEW BEAUTYCOUNTER VITAMIN C SERUM REVIEW

Another top-rated serum on Amazon, this one is great for acne-prone skin, since it combines vitamin C with salicylic acid, which helps to exfoliate skin and zap blemishes and blackheads. It also features hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and retinol to hydrate, plump, reduce inflammation, minimize wrinkles, lighten dark spots, and make pores appear smaller.

“I am a licensed esthetician who suffers from hormonal cystic acne that leaves horrible scarring on my sensitive skin,” shared a customer. “My skin has improved so much since I started using this product!!! For the first couple of weeks, my skin purged out any underlying blemishes but afterwards was clearer and smoother than I’ve seen it in YEARS! I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!! I love that it not only target my acne scarring with the vitamin C, but also soothes the redness with the niacinimide and has anti-aging properties from the retinol AND helps minimize my black heads and pore size with the salicylic acid. It is the perfect product for my sensitive oily acne prone skin!”

Best Beautycounter Body Wash: Counterman Energizing Charcoal Body Wash

Dr. Shamban raves about the ingredient list on this energizing Beautycounter body wash. Perhaps the biggest selling point? The spa-like aromas of eucalyptus, cedar wood, rosemary, and mint that anyone will enjoy. Charcoal helps to remove impurities from the skin while glycerine, coconut, and grapeseed moisturize the skin,” she explains.

Tap water from your shower often makes the skin too alkaline, altering the skin’s delicate pH, so you want to use a gentle product that won’t strip away moisture, says Dr. Shamban. Free of harsh sulfates, ” protects the acid mantle and will help keep skin fit from bacteria and other harmful pathogens or substances,” she shares.

Ive been using this for a few weeks now and Im in love. Im not sure why, but I cannot use the brightening oil. Ive tried a few different times and break out or my face gets hot/red.

Natural Skincare Alternatives To Beautycounter

This Alternatives to Beautycounter post has been a long time in the making and probably one of the most highly requested posts by you guys. I certainly have not been quiet about my distaste for all things Beautycounter so I find myself fielding your questions and concerns about the brand more often than I anticipated. You can read my review of them here but in a nutshell heres why I dont use Beautycounter products:

1. The quality does not match the price to be fair, no clean beauty products are as cheap as conventional, but the quality of Beautycounter products is not outstanding and certainly not worth the price tag. Such is the reality of an MLM where you have to pay your downline

2. Theyre not THAT clean now Im not here to tell you that your skincare products should have no synthetics. I do think theres value in some synthetic products and especially as youre transitioning to natural beauty BUT some synthetics are just unnecessary and there are other alternatives out there that are cleaner.

SO lets chat alternatives. I decided to pick some of the more popular products out there and offer equivalent options that cost less and/or are cleaner options. I asked you guys on Instagram to share some of the Beautycounter products youd like to see alternatives for and picked these 5. Of course there are many others and Im happy to add more if you want to see them, but for now lets look at these.

Considerations By Skin Type

Meet You on the Brighter Side: Counter All Bright C Serum

safe to use for most skin types, but its still a good idea to do a patch test before applying serum all over your face.

To do this, apply a small amount of product on the inside of your wrist. Wait 24 hours for any signs of irritation before using broadly.

Sensitive skin

If you have sensitive skin or a skin condition, like rosacea, you might want to stick to serums with lower concentrations of vitamin C. Thats because concentrations higher than may cause irritation.

Oily skin

For oily or acne-prone skin, look for serums labeled noncomedogenic so they wont clog your pores.

Dry skin

If your skin tends to be on the dryer side, look for serums with hydrating ingredients, like hyaluronic acid.

Accessories To Apply Vitamin C Serum

There are a number of tools you can use to apply vitamin c serum:

  • Gua sha tool. This ancient Chinese technique is used to stimulate the facial fascia to increase skin circulation, remove blockages, and increase blood flow. Gua sha tools can be paired with any serum to help the tool glide more effectively over the skin and make absorption more effective.
  • Jade roller. Like gua sha tools, jade rollers can help increase circulation, depuff skin, reduce inflammation, and expedite product absorption.
  • Ionic wand for face. Using ionic technology, an ionic wand opens up the pores to help push active ingredients within a serum deep into the skin for better penetration and absorption.

Bliss Bright Idea Vitamin C Tri

This serum contains vitamin C, hydrating glycerin, and tri-peptides to brighten skin, boost elasticity, and add moisture back into dry skin. Also nice: the formula is non-comedogenic, meaning that it won’t block your pores and cause breakouts.

“GREAT!! I had a frown wrinkle â from when I squint hard â starting to form between my eyebrows which made me very insecure. I’ve noticed a significant change in it to almost gone! My skin is also probably in the best shape it’s been in a while, noticeably brighter,” shared a fan.

Ways To Save On Beautycounter

Discover 3 Ways To Save On Your Beautycounter Purchases

I have to be honest. Im highly invested in this product. I mean, I really, really want it to work. Its not just because I spent my entire childhood in the bright Hawaiian sun or because my college years were mostly spent soaking up the California raysalthough that does have something to do with it. I want this serum to work because my face is speckled and spotted with whats left of those foregone years. And while Ive spent the past few years taking much better care of my skin, I cant seem to get rid of all those brown spots. So, yes, I really want this serum to work. But mostly, Im just a woman with the spots that my girlhood left me with, hoping for clear, smooth, glowing skin that I get as a result of using luxuriously, non-toxic, clean beauty products. And is that really too much to ask? I really hope not.

Best For Sensitive Skin: Vichy Liftactiv Vitamin C Serum

Beautycounter

Vichy

  • 15% pure vitamin C formulation

  • Easy to apply, absorbs quickly

  • Some users dislike scent

If you have sensitive skin, you may want to be particularly careful when it comes to choosing a vitamin C serum.

Its important to find a formulation that works for your sensitive skin type not all vitamin C serums are created equal and many formulations range from five to 30 percent , Dr. Palm explains.

Dr. Saedi suggests avoiding more potentially irritating vitamin C serums, so starting with one like Vichy LiftActiv Vitamin C might be less likely to cause a reaction than most other effective products it contains a high level of pure vitamin C, but she points out that its a more hydrating form with a lower percentage of ascorbic acid. Because its formula is only made of 11 ingredients, there’s less of a chance for an irritating ingredient to trigger a reaction.

That means its less likely to cause irritation to sensitive skin, and since the Vichy serum also includes hyaluronic acid, is made with clean ingredients, and is paraben-, fragrance-, and oil-free, its worth giving it a try if youve got sensitive skin.

The Ordinary Vitamin C Brightening Serum

One of the more cost-effective options, this serum contains vitamin C derivative that reviewers say really brightens your skin. Not to mention, the formula is extremely lightweight and won’t feel greasy after application, since it absorbs quickly.

One reviewer wrote: “I love this product. I can visibly see my dark spots disappearing! I have had many different laser treatments, including IPL, none of which have ever worked. But this product definitely does! I have only been using it a week and I can see a dramatic difference.”

What Is The Best Vitamin C Serum

When people ask about the percent of vitamin C, they often think higher is better, but that can cause irritation. And, while most brands on the market use 15%, you also have to look at the stability of those products and the type of vitamin C used in them. Many brands that claim 15% actually dont live up to the percentage claim when they are tested. When tested off the shelf, the Vitamin C in them aged and degraded, even before they sat in a bathroom at home.

Most popular, high-end vitamin C brands use a less stable form of Vitamin C, 15% L-Ascorbic Acid. Alternatively, the Beautycounter All Bright Serum uses a total of 10% of ultra-stable Vitamin C from Japan. The two types are 5% bis-glyceryl ascorbate and 5% tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate. These were specifically selected for their stability and efficacy over time.

Additionally, tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is effective at lower concentrations, which means less potential for irritation. This formulation is also lipid-soluble, so its effects are deeper and longer-lasting in the skin. It actually penetrates the skin, which is a much better delivery system. L-Ascorbic Acid, on the other hand, is tricky to formulate with. It loses efficacy when it comes into contact with water. Thats why you are seeing high-end brands sell DIY products that mix the Vitamin C with the serum at point of use to help avoid that.

Now, lets look at costs:
