What Is The Best Vitamin For Varicose Veins

Varicose veins and spider veins. Which vitamins should we take? Part 1

The vitamin K is required to live. Increasing use of Vitamin K to prevent varicose veins indicates a trend towards it. A cream can be applied topically as well. An important part of vitamin K is its function as an anticoagulant, which blocks blood clots to ensure smooth blood flow throughout a persons body.

What Vitamin Is Good For Spider Veins

One of the benefits of niacin is its ability to stimulate blood circulation and decrease cholesterol levels.Having these benefits reduces veins stress in your legs, resulting in a shorter prevalence of varicose veins in the future. In addition to a variety of foods, niacin also occurs in cereals, oats, and tuna.

Why Do I Have Varicose Veins In Only One Leg

Healthcare professionals are uncertain why varicose veins only happen on one side of the body. Some believe it could be because you experienced an injury to that side of the body which caused damage to the veins or the valves of the veins. Others believe it is just a natural part of having varicose veins.

How Can I Add Zinc To My Diet Naturally

Beans, animal proteins, nuts, fish and seafood are all good sources of zinc. You can also get zinc from whole grain cereals, and dairy products. Top choices for zinc include fortified cereals, Pacific raw oysters, canned baked beans, cooked green peas, yogurt, pecans, lean ground beef and roasted peanuts.

Luckily, youve got lots of tasty ways to get your recommended daily zinc intake from diet alone. If, however, you feel you may have a zinc insufficiency, you may consider supplementation. Zinc supplements come in capsule and tablet form.

Keep in mind, however, that too much zinc can also cause problems in your body. So talk to your doctor before adding any new supplements to your diet. And, if youre dealing with a leg ulcer right now, dont delay treatmentregardless of the COVID-19 outbreak, you must stick with your follow up ulcer appointments. Failure to do so could even result in amputation!

More Than Unsightly Veins

Christina Adores...: Spider Veins

Research has not found a true cause of varicose veins. However, doctors link varicose veins to obesity, genetics, and pregnancy. In most cases, the condition does not have serious side effects, apart from a cosmetic standpoint. However, advanced cases can cause pain, swelling, blood clots, and even leg ulcers. Some researchers also believe varicose veins are a precursor to cardiovascular health issues. Research links deep vein thrombosis , for example, to varicose veins. Over the years, surgical procedures have come to the forefront to treat the condition. Luckily, getting some essential vitamins can help with both varicose veins and cardiovascular health.

Try Vitamin C To Heal

The antioxidant properties of vitamin C help the body in several ways. Vitamin C repairs inflammation and oxidative stress on the body. Both are responsible for the breakdown of veins. Vitamin C also is critical in creating collagen. This compound is the building block of veins and blood vessels. Research also links vitamin C deficiencies to cardiovascular damage. A healthy daily dose of vitamin C, over time, may restore those stubborn veins.

Prostate Health And Vitamin K2

Varicose veins and destruction of the one-way valves in the internal spermatic vein were the direct cause of BPH, but what causes varicose veins? Work by Cario-Toumaniantz and coworkers on the differentially expressed genes and gene products in varicose vein tissue showed an overexpression of genes involved in extracellular remodeling, including matrix Gla protein. Smooth muscle cells were seen proliferating in varicose vein tissue with high expression of MGP, particularly the uncarboxylated form of MGP. Overexpression of MGP and proliferation of smooth muscle cells have been seen before, reported by Price and coworkers investigating the effects of warfarin on arterial calcification in rats , and by Schurgers and coworkers reporting the reversal of warfarin-induced arterial calcification in rats . In areas of calcification of arteries, there is proliferation of smooth muscle cells and increased expression of uncarboxylated MGP, similar to what was seen in varicose vein tissue . It is likely then that vitamin K is involved in the mechanism by which varicose veins form, just as it has been implicated in the formation of arterial calcifications. When varicose vein tissue culture was treated with warfarin, mineralization increased, which could be inhibited by the inclusion of vitamin K in the culture media , indicating a direct role for vitamin K in the prevention of varicose veins.

Vitamins To Help Fight Spider Veins

People who are prone to developing spider veins are often looking for new ways to prevent them. When visiting a vein diseased specialist in North Miami Beach, patients are often trying to learn about new ways to prevent their pesky spider veins from reccuring. When asked, a doctor is likely to tell their patients to drink a lot of water, keep their legs elevated, go out for moderate walks, lose weight, or wear support stockings.

However, they dont often mention anything about nutrition.

As many people know, it is what we put inside of our bodies that has the biggest effects on them. In some cases, however, it isnt what one is eating but what one is failing to eat that is causing them an abundance of spider veins. The following is a list of vitamins that can help fight spider veins.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is often recommended to people with poor blood circulation. It is a great vitamin to take because it can help reduce inflammation. On top of that, vitamin C promotes the function of collagen in the body, which is very needed to keep both skin and veins flexible. Vitamin C can also strengthen the walls of ones veins and helps heal damaged membranes.

Vitamin B

Vitamin E

Vitamin K

While most doctors would recommend eating whole foods to receive the benefits of these vitamins, one can also buy supplements should it be easier for them to ingest.

Vita K Spider Veins Treatment: How Does It Work

Spider veins are a skin problem that commonly occurs on the face and the legs. They are a result of damaged or weakened veins and one way to prevent your chances of getting these superficial veins is to know how to manage your vein health.

Vitamin K is a common ingredient that is found in most beauty products and skin creams today. Essentially, this vitamin is vital for stimulating normal blood clotting function to help heal wounds and minimize bruising from an injury. It also helps promote good bone health and has anti-inflammatory properties.

In a cosmetic sense, it is said to help correct several skin concerns such as stretch marks, scars, redness, dark spots, and under eye circles. It is also believed to have antioxidant properties which help get rid of free radicals that may further damage the skin.

When it comes to vein health, Vitamin K acts as nourishment to build stronger capillaries so that they will not be easily susceptible to breaking or rupturing. Taking Vitamin K as a dietary supplement may help ensure proper blood circulation and lessen your chances of getting spider veins.

Topical Vitamin K creams or lotion may also be applied to the desired area where a spider vein is noticeable. It may have some effects on reducing the flow of blood in the veins by causing them to clot which improves the appearance of spider veins. Vita K Professional, Vita K Solution, and Provita K Complex are some of the available products for spider veins.

Vitamin C And Vitamin E

These two are grouped together because they have an important characteristic in common: Theyre both potent antioxidants. Antioxidants help repair cellular damage that can occur from oxidative stress, which occurs more commonly as we age. Theyre also both great immune system boosters, and vitamin E can also reduce the unattractive appearance of spider veins. Most people know vitamin C can be found in citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit and lemons, but it can also be found in broccoli, bell peppers and greens like kale and collards. Vitamin E is contained in peanuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, turnip and mustard greens, spinach and avocado.

Vitamin K2 For Varicose Veins

by Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, CNS | Jan 8, 2015 | Ask Ann Louise |

I just turned 52, and Im seeing signs of thick, dark veins on my legs. I really dont want to have to wear long pants every summer. Is there a supplement that can help?

There is. In treating nearly 55 percent of my female patients who struggle with varicose veins, Ive discovered a surprisingly simple fix: vitamin K2. When levels of this nutrient are deficient , calcium can exit the bones and coat veins. This leads to hardening and clogs that make it difficult for blood to flow back up the legs. Instead, blood pools downward, causing veins to stretch and bulge. But restoring K2 levels helps reverse this calcification to rejuvenate blood flow. This works to heal vein damage and protect against future problems.

To get the benefits, I recommend supplementing with 100 mcg of the supplement. Most women see a noticeable reduction in the appearance of varicose veins within six to eight weeks. As a bonus, increased intake of vitamin K2 cuts the risk of heart disease by 42 percent.

Supplements For Vein Health

Vitamin K2 And A Plant

Reversal of atherosclerosis by a plant-based diet has already been mentioned in this chapter . Dr. Esselstyn has also shown that a plant-based diet very low in fat can reverse coronary artery disease . Of 198 subjects in the lifestyle intervention study, 177 were adherent to the program while 21 formed a control group of non-adherent comparison subjects. There was reversal of angiographic-verified blockages in 39 adherent subjects. Disease progression occurred in 4 adherent subjects, but in 11 of the non-adherent subjects. Coronary artery calcification was not measured.

There is abundant evidence that increased consumption of fruits and vegetables in conjunction with exercise and a healthy lifestyle is beneficial for cardiovascular health and lower cardiovascular mortality. Healthy diets have been reported to lower cardiovascular mortality risk by about 3040% . When combined with other lifestyle factors, the risk plummets to about 20% or less compared to the least healthy fraction of the population .

Re: Saturated Fat Is Not The Major Issue

It is disappointing to see so many letters in the BMJ clinging to the outdated notion that saturated fat is bad and vegetable fat is good. I would therefore like to draw attention to two little known points about animal fat.

Firstly, vegetable oil induces fatty liver disease and saturated fat reverses it. This has been demonstrated by comparing rats fed on corn oil and rats fed on beef fat .

Secondly, the mistaken advice to avoid saturated fat from animals has made most people short of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K2. Vitamin K2 is distinct from vitamin K1 which is present in vegetables and is responsible for blood clotting. Vitamins A, D and K2 are needed together for normal calcium metabolism. Vitamins A and D are necessary for the production of the proteins osteocalcin and matrix gla protein . Osteocalcin attracts calcium into bones and teeth. MGP sweeps calcium out of soft tissues. To become active these proteins have to be switched on by vitamin K2 using gamma-carboxylation.

Matters are made worse by the current fashion of treating people with high dose of vitamin D alone. This rapidly uses up meagre levels of vitamin K2. MGP remains inactive and coronary artery calcification results.

Fruits And Vegetables To Add To Your Diet For Healthy Veins

While your diet cant prevent varicose veins, especially if they run in your family, it may help keep them at bay or prevent them from getting worse. It can also help keep you healthy and at a reasonable weight, which takes unnecessary stress off your veins. Adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet is never a bad thing, but adding these selections could just give your vein health a boost:

    1. Lima BeansThe more fiber you eat, the healthier you and your veins are, and few fruits and veggies have as much fiber as lima beans. Just one cup has 13.2 grams, half of the daily recommended amount for women. Fiber keeps both your cholesterol and your digestive system working properly, both of which can put a strain on your veins.

    2. StrawberriesStrawberries and other colorful fruits are packed with bioflavonoids. These antioxidants are necessary for good heart and circulatory health, and good circulation is an important part of vein health. They also contain anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce swelling associated with varicose veins and strengthen the vein walls.

    3. ApplesSpeaking of bioflavonoids, apples contain some called rutin that also offer anti-inflammatory properties. It even has the potential to help prevent blood clots. Just be sure you eat it with the peeling to get the maximum benefits.
