Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

How To Use SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Vitamin C Serum | Phloretin Silymarin C F Mississauga Canada

A best seller on Sephora The Ole Henriksen Truth Serum contains a vitamin C complex, collagen, orange and green tea extracts, and aloe. One Sephora reviewer said “I’ve gotten multiple compliments on how clear and glowy my skin looks! Not only that, but it’s even helped reduce some of my acne scars. It seriously has been a game-changer in my daily routine — it smells great, isn’t sticky, and the results are legit.”

Ingredient Quality: Vitamins C And E Join Forces With Ferulic Acid

SkinCeuticals lists three ingredients as key players in this serum: 15% L-ascorbic acid, a highly potent form of pure vitamin C that neutralizes free radicals, protects against oxidative stress, and provides visible anti-aging benefits 1% alpha-tocopherol, the pure form of vitamin E that works together with vitamin C to neutralize free radicals and replenish the skins lipids and 0.5% ferulic acid, a plant-based antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals and enhances the antioxidant benefits and stability of vitamins C and E.

While these ingredients are spread out on the ingredient list, the brand lists the concentration of eachand even though some are in small concentrations, these ingredients are potent! However, C E Ferulic is not considered clean by Byrdies standards due to its inclusion of triethanolamine.

Other Skin Care Tips To Remember:

1. Wash and Apply

The best time to apply your skincare is after washing your face or taking a shower or bath. When your skin is damp, it easily locks in the hydration from your moisturiser and other products compared to applying it when your skin is already dry. Also, leaving your skin to dry after washing it without applying your step-by-step skin routine or simply an adequate moisturiser will dehydrate your skin further, because dry air tends to suck the moisture out of your skin, the last thing your complexion needs when facing the drying air of autumn and winter.

2. Skin care Schedule

Plan your skincare routine in such a way that its easy to do regularly. Having an 8-step skincare routine when you only have a few minutes to get ready in the morning will only make it hard for you to stick to it on a regular basis. Plan your skin care routine so that you can take your time while doing it. Always remember that sticking to a basic skin care routine that you can do regularly is always better than a complicated skin care routine that you cant.

How Does Vitamin C Fight Free Radical Damage

Free radicals are produced in skin from environmental factors such as UV rays, infrared, pollution, and cigarette smoke causing atmospheric skin aging by generating free radicals — unstable molecules with unpaired electrons. Free radicals try to steal electrons from healthy molecules, causing oxidative stress. Over time, free radical damage leads to visible signs of accelerated skin aging including fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, and laxity. This science is known as the free radical theory of aging .Vitamin C, in its pure form , helps protect against this damage by donating electrons to neutralize damaging free radicals, in turn helping prevent the appearance of premature aging.

Skin Care Routine – How To Apply Antioxidant Serum & Sunscreen | SkinCeuticals

Although irritation is unlikely, you should always do a patch test prior to full application. This is the only way to determine how your skin will react to the serum.

If your skin is especially sensitive, avoid products with L-ascorbic acid. Products with magnesium ascorbyl phosphate may be less likely to cause irritation.

Serum stability is affected by two things product formulation and packaging.

The following vitamin C derivatives are designed to retain potency for longer:

  • L-ascorbic acid
  • ascorbyl palmitate
  • magnesium ascorbyl phosphate

You should also ensure that the product has a water-free formulation. And the bottle should be opaque and airtight.

How To Use Vitamin C For Best Results

Vitamin C is one of the most useful antioxidants in skincare and a vital part of the morning routine if youre tackling premature ageing and sun damage.

Whats great about it is that most of the products I rate come in an easy-to-layer format thats simple to integrate into your morning routine so let me show you how its done.

Im going to demo this using the classic, Skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum.

What Are The Benefits Of A Vitamin C Serum

Who should use a Vitamin C serum?

Vitamin C is one of the skincare worlds star ingredients, loved by dermatologists and skin experts alike for its powerful antioxidant power. Not only does it improve the appearance of ageing signs, such as dark spots and fine lines, but it brightens and brings a more luminous appearance to the complexion. Thinking of adding it into your routine? Heres everything you need to know.

Why should Vitamin C be included in my skincare routine?

Vitamin C isnt naturally produced by the body, so in order to reap its benefits it needs to be applied topically to the skin and incorporated into a healthy diet with foods such as citrus fruits. A serum is the most effective ways of introducing it into your daily skincare regime especially when used alongside broad-spectrum sun protection.

What are the benefits?

Vitamin C – otherwise known as L-ascorbic acid – is a topical antioxidant that neutralises free radicals and helps to protect the skin against excessive oxidative stress. When added topically to the skin, it can help it to look brighter, more luminous and prevent premature ageing signs from appearing. The good news is that vitamin C is suitable for all skin types and can benefit everyone.

When should you use it?

The best time to apply a Vitamin C serum is in the morning. This is due to the environmental protection it provides the skin as you go about your day, when UV radiation is at its highest.

How can you add it to your routine?

Make Adjustments If You Wish

While this smoothie is packed with protein you can add more if you add a scoop of vanilla protein powder. If you want to use oat or coconut milk instead of almond milk, go for it. And if you want to use low-fat yogurt you can do that too. Or if peanut butter isnt your thing, you can always use a nut butter of your choice or maybe a peanut butter protein powder like PBfit All-Natural Organic Peanut Butter Powder which also brings the calories down quite a bit. By making these small adjustments you can make yourself the perfect filling breakfast or snack that will keep you satisfied until Turkey Day.

Not All Vitamin C Serums Are Created Equal

Phloretin CF

Whether youve been looking to simplify your skin care routine or amp it up, a vitamin C serum might be your golden ticket. Topical vitamin C is a multipurpose workhorse that can protect, repair, and enhance your skin.

But, as with any products, not all serums are created equal. Components like the type and concentration of vitamin C, the ingredient list, and even the kind of bottle or dispenser make or break your serums benefits and your skin.

But dont worry, decoding which serum to buy isnt that hard. Weve got the facts on C serum benefits, how to choose one , and tips on how to make the most use of them.

Here are some products that we recommend:

  • C E Ferulic by SkinCeuticals
  • Vitamin C, E + Ferulic Acid Serum by Marie Veronique
  • C-Firma Day Serum by Drunk Elephant
  • Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum
  • Revitalist Derm Intensives Vitamin C Face Serum by LOreal Paris
  • 20% Vitamin C + E Ferulic Acid Serum by Timeless
  • Beauty Shield Vitamin C Pollution Prevention Serum by e.l.f

Vitamin C is an antioxidant, meaning it halts or holds off environmental and sun damage to cells. And while you can count your morning OJ as a good defense for your bod, the best way to achieve vitamin Cs protection and benefits is to apply it directly onto your skin.

But theres also a reason why you dont want to just be placing citrus slices on your cheeks. When you DIY, theres no control over the quality and sometimes its not even safe. Its also just not efficient.

and made some recommendations.

Skinceuticals C E Ferulic Review: Our Writers Review

Reviewer: Emily

: Skin prior to using the SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic : Close up of hyperpigmentation.

Ive never experienced any major skin issues, but lately, Ive been noticing that my hyperpigmentation has been getting more obvious than before. This mostly has to do with me not heeding my mothers advice on putting on sunblock and also because Ive been spending more time outdoors. So, naturally, I was pretty excited to try out the SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic.

According to my research, the SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic is to be used to be after cleansing and toning, with 4-5 drops being sufficient for multiple areas, such as your dry face, neck, and chest. I did so dutifully, and found that while the scent is a tad too strong for my taste, I do like the lightweight texture and how quickly it absorbs into the skin.

Left: before using SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic. Right: After using SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic.

I started seeing changes after about two weeks of sustained use. As you can tell, my hyperpigmentation appears a little lighter than before, and my overall skin tone is a lot more radiant, too! I put it on before my sunscreen several times a week, and it seems to be helping to prevent the formation of new hyperpigmentation spots as well. In general, my skin appears firmer, bouncier, and more radiant than before, which is a definite plus point. A cult skincare product? No doubt about it.

What Should I Look For When Choosing A Vitamin C Serum

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Review – the Best Vitamin C Serum?

A topical vitamin C antioxidant must be formulated properly in order to be effective. Based on the research of SkinCeuticals founding scientist Dr. Sheldon Pinnell, SkinCeuticals was the first to discover the exact formulation specifications required for optimal vitamin C absorption and efficacy. This is dependent on three factors, known as the Duke Antioxidant Patent the use of pure vitamin C , formulated at an acidic pH , and in a concentration between 10 and 20 percent. SkinCeuticals is the only skincare brand to formulate in accordance with these parameters.

What To Look For When Shopping For A Vitamin C Serum

What to look for in a vitamin C serum depends on your personal skin concerns. If you’re concerned about acne, be sure to look for products that are oil-free. “Vitamin C is often formulated with vitamin E for their synergistic antioxidant effects, but vitamin E is an oil and may cause flares on acne prone skin,” says Love.

Keep in mind that vitamin C serums can be irritating to the skin. If you’re concerned about sensitivity, look for brands that advertise “sensitive skin” or note that the product is formulated to reduce irritation when you shop for products.

Sometimes it’s ok to buy skincare products and let them sit on the shelf for a few months before using them. But you don’t want to do that with products that contain vitamin C. “L-ascorbic acid is difficult to stabilize, which is why a ‘steal’ is probably too good to be true. Both air and sunlight can oxidize vitamin C, causing it to lose some of its efficacy,” says Love.

Besides using the product as quickly as you can, Love also suggests opting for a serum that comes in a container that blocks out light. “Minimize the amount of time the product is exposed to air by applying it quickly to your hands and screwing the top back on the bottle securely. Some products now come in containers that don’t require opening the top, so this is also helpful,” says Love.

Skinceuticals Aox+ Eye Gel

The benefits of vitamin C don’t stop at the eyes! This antioxidant-rich eye gel features L-ascorbic acid, phloretin, ferulic acid and caffeine. This combination of clinically proven ingredients helps improve the appearance of puffiness, under-eye bags, dark circles and more.

Now that you have an idea of which of the best SkinCeuticals vitamin C serums is right for you, here’s what to know before you buy.

There are several factors to consider when selecting a vitamin C antioxidant serum, including the formula, the packaging and where you purchase the product.
